Ring the Bell
I completed my final day of radiation—a milestone I’ve been looking forward. Although my journey has been fraught with challenging side effects, including a constant need to be near a bathroom and bouts of nausea, I am emerging stronger and more resilient.
The moment I was able to ring the infamous bell was significant, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. It would have been perfectly joyful, though my trip to the hospital was complicated by a flat tire. But isn't that just how life works? Balancing joy with challenges, reminding us that every victory comes with its own battles.
I also joyfully removed the 12 stickers that had been my companions for over a month, symbols of my journey as they marked the exact spots treated by the radiation. Now, I stand at the threshold of recovery, ready to navigate this last set of side effects. Soon, I will await the results of my next scan, a testament to how far I’ve come.
Even if the outcomes are not what I hope for, I recognize the strength I've gained through this experience. As I have learned, bridges on certain treatments may be burned, but they also pave the way for new beginnings. My journey is far from over; it’s just starting a new path toward healing and life that I look forward to embracing!
